Damien McKay was tragically taken from us on the 29th of November 2005 whilst kiteboarding Cape Woolamai, Phillip Island. Victoria. To honour Damien and the love he had for his sport, the inaugural Damien McKay Memorial Kiteboarding event will be held at Phillip Island 18th and 19th November 2006.

Damo's wife Leah and friends are organising this competition in memory of Damo and to raise awareness of the necessity to apply safe practices and procedures to the fantastic sport of kitesurfing.

Sadly, Damo incurred serious head and spinal injuries when he came unstuck on the beach after a fantastic session.

Damo thought every day of kiting at his local beaches was "World Class"
